Marija received her B.A. in Biochemistry from Columbia University in 2024. There, she worked in the lab of Dr. Anthony Fitzpatrick, using cryo-EM to determine the structure and behavior of amyloid fibrils implicated in various neurodegenerative diseases. She also spent time in Dr. Henning Stahblerg’s lab at EPFL in Switzerland, using correlative light and electron microscopy to examine the ultrastructure and temporal development of Lewy bodies in Parkinson’s diseased human brains. She joined the BBS program in 2024, and in her free time enjoys playing volleyball, concert-going, watching Formula 1, and (re)watching movies.
